Introducing the Limited Edition 1010
Press Launch in Mayfair
On the 25th of October the latest limited edition from Caran d'Ache was formally introduced to pen enthusiasts and the press at the prestigious location of William and Son in Mayfair. In the great tradition of Swiss manufacturing, Caran d'Ache have designed a truly exceptional writing instrument paying respect to the Swiss watchmaking industry and as a tribute to magnificent timepeices with intricate workings.
A precious metaphor for time
The 1010 is a unique creation as it has been inspired by watches with skeletonised case backs and reveals on it's barrel interacting functions and perfect mechanics with cogs and pinions. The interior cage represents the complex mechanism of a watch movement, whilst the exterior cage was inspired by the bridges that support the watch's gear train. A one of a kind program enabling the carrying out of cylindrical, rotary cutting without deformation had to be perfected to make the barrel of the pen. A saphire crystal dome houses the balance wheel, which has been positioned by Caran d'Ache craftsmen at the tip of the pen body perfectly poised between two rubies and is the key element that brings a watch to life. This unique pen declares a passion for writing and a vision of time. Only 10 solid gold and 500 silver plated rhodium-coated pieces have been made.
